Hogan Junction - Benchwork
Once all of the brackets were assembled, I then mounted them to the wall straps using heavy-duty all-purpose screws.

Next it was time to assemble the benchwork. You will notice in the picture that the side of the benchwork which faces the room does not have a horizontal board. This was intentional, as my goal was to keep the weight of the benchwork to a minimum. This side would be stabilized by the light-weight fascia board that will be added later on in the project.

Therefore at this stage we just wanted to make sure that the benchwork would provide a smooth and level support for the styrofoam table top.

The benchwork is notched at the cross-members, and each piece fits into the notches of the other pieces. Notches were cut to 1/2 the height of the board, then each joint was glued and connected by screws.

The resulting benchwork was lightweight and very strong. We were pleased to see that the earlier planning paid great dividends, as the entire layout was perfectly level from side to side and front to back.
