Colorado Eastern - Trestle Completion
With everything in place to support the trestle and its approaches, it was time to finish the track. I filled the void between the rock wall and retaining wall, and then added sub-roadbed and track.

I made a few minor adjustments to the height of the trestle by simply adding more rocks and dirt under the foundation. Once again, special thanks to Paul at www.gardenrr.com!

A note about the track near the trestle. As the entire layout comes together near the trestle, I had to custom fit the last few pieces together. This required that I use a hack-saw to trim a 5' radius curve to match up the trestle approach track with the rest of the layout.

When cutting track, be careful to keep a firm, straight edge on the cut. You may want to use a file to clean up any rough edges before you attempt connecting the cut piece to the other track.

As the track must be tight at its final connection, I lifted the entire 6' section OVER the trestle and then let it drop down exactly into place. The last "piece" consisted of a 2' section connected to a 3' section connected to the 1/2 curve. The 1/2 curve then fit into the approach track that was already anchored to the layout.

Trestle installed, track complete!
