Colorado
Eastern - Site Prep/Start
Now that the lumber was cut and ready to
install, let's take a stroll out to the project site to make sure I did
a decent job preparing the ground. The holes were dug so
that each post would be 50% buried - so the holes are half the height of
the posts. Remember to make the posts level front-back, left-right and
top-centered. When setting the posts, use a thin tamping stick and
several different layers of fill to help stabilize the hole. Note sod
rolled up and out of the way.
You'll see that these photos show a combination of work that has already
been completed, along with work in progress. Original marker stakes are
replaced with wood stakes, posts are sunk to depth and filled, back wall
is constructed.
